3.9 / 5 stars (75 reviews) - Powerful Machine Great for Web Entertainment as Well as Serious Work Latest review: February 1, 2019 | Model: HP Chromebook 11-2210nr
This is an impressive little computer.Primarily made for use on the internet it is light and portable, but the internet speed is incredible. Taking it out of the box I found the set up to be quite straightforward but it does come with directions. It's kind of scary how fast it uploads your accounts, but with in a couple of minutes you feel right at home surfing the web. The 11.6 inch screen is great for watching videos, seems to have a bit of an anti glare quality to it. The tutor instantly walks you through different aspects of the machine that you may find helpful. Though this computer is really geared toward web surfing, it is much more than a web board. I found it very easy to connect to Microsoft online and found many of my projects there to work on when I am away from home. The transition to this Chromebook is very easy and quite painless. The key board has a nice feel to it also. The large white keys make it easy for typing.

This review is for the NON-touch screen 14-ca040nr. Reviews get lumped together, so it's good to know which product you're reading about. I'm a semi-retired IT technician, so this review comes from that standpoint... Fit and finish is good (although the machine is basically plastic) and it weighs about 3 pounds (again, the non-touch screen version). It is, for me, a true "laptop" machine in that the bottom doesn't get too hot to hold when it's in my lap. Overall I'm really pleased with the HP 14-ca040nr. I've read reviews that say that Chromebooks don't work offline, or don't offer software - and those reviews are wrong. You just have to set the machine up properly.

Review date: November 05, 2018 | Model: HP Chromebook 14 G5
A Chromebook isn't going to be quite as flexible as a full-on WIndows PC or a Mac. No matter how Google dresses things up, you're still relying heavily on web apps to get work done, and ultimately such restrictions aren't for everyone... For a reasonably modest investment, you'll get a responsive, friendly notebook that's actually fun to use despite its shortcomings.

There's a lot to like about the Acer, including it's smart design, larger screen size, and impressively long battery life. These are offset by a few less than desirable components. The display is adequate at best, the keyboard is also average, and performance feels hampered by the low memory allocation. It's a solid machine, but the compromises may be too much for some.

The $279.99 HP Chromebook 14 is a solid notebook for general activities. If you want a large screen for simultaneous document editing, internet browsing and video streaming, it packs enough punch to suit your needs. On the other hand, those who want to make it a whole day on a single charge or enjoy brighter and more colorful images may want to look elsewhere. If you're willing to get a 13-inch display, both the Dell Chromebook 13 and the Toshiba Chromebook 2 earned our Editor's Choice awards for their long battery life and even faster performance. The $269 Toshiba Chromebook 2 CB35 is even less expensive than the HP, but you may want to pay more for the $429 Dell Chromebook 13'sfantastic design. But if you want a big notebook that runs Chrome OS and can kick out the jams, the HP Chromebook 14 is worth your consideration.
