5.0 / 5 stars (1 reviews) - High value and well built.
Latest review: April 27, 2018 | Model: Dell Latitude 15 3590
I am terribly bad with computers. That being said the 3590 is extremely good. It is a vast improvement over my 4 year old desk top. It is actually my first laptop. Still kind of getting used to it but it is overall much higher quality all around. From included basic software, hardware and overall build quality the 3590 is quite a step up for me. I guess I am just showing my age here but the cooling fans on it are very powerful and loud when they turn on. Setting it up for what I use it for was shockingly simple. Money very well spent.

Review date: September 20, 2018 | Model: Dell Latitude 15 3590-K8JP
The Latitude 3590 targets budget-conscious business users who aren't looking for the best display or attractive design. It's an underwhelming system that just barely gets the job done with its poorly calibrated colors, cheap plastic keys, relatively loud fan noise, and soft trackpad. Not bad for the low starting price of under $500 USD, but definitely not worth anywhere near the $1000 asking price of the higher-end configurations. There are numerous outdated aspects of the Latitude 3590 that we hope will be addressed in future revisions. Firstly, the proprietary AC adapter is inconvenient and becoming obsolete when USB Type-C charging of up to 100 W is readily available. The competing ThinkPad E580, for example, has already dropped the AC adapter port for USB Type-C. Secondly, the optional fingerprint reader is only a touch fingerprint reader instead of the power button combo found on newer XPS models. Lastly, the lack of GeForce MX Pascal graphics is unfortunate since there is already an option for the aging Radeon 530. These newer features could have been implemented without significantly affecting the price of the model.

As long as Dell's Latitude 15-3570 is still on sale, particularly the lowest-priced member of the office worker can be said to have a very decent price-performance ratio. An entry-price of 419 Euros (~$463 including discount) is not a matter of course for the good casing and decent input devices of the smallest model. However, the review sample exhibits clear weaknesses in display and sound, and thus multimedia fans should look elsewhere. On the other hand, the technical aspects, and the quiet and mostly cool operation is impressive. Should the bulging battery be a problem, a 48 Wh battery is also available. Security-conscious users will welcome the TPM chip and the option of a fingerprint scanner. The tested version of 3570 had the advantage of considerably smoother handling over its rivals thanks to its SSD. However, the screen cannot keep up here, and not just because of its low resolution.

If you're looking for a business notebook with enough performance to obliterate your to-do list and enough volume for a proper celebration afterwards, the Core i7 model of the Dell Latitude 15 3570 is definitely worth your consideration, especially since its optional 6-cell battery provides all-day battery life. Unfortunately, its keyboard isn't that comfortable and that extra battery life comes with the downside of carrying a chunkier notebook. If you want a better typing experience and display, you'll want to check out the Lenovo ThinkPad T460. Overall, the Dell Latitude 15 3570 is a pretty good business notebook, but you can do better.

The Dell Latitude 3540 is a formidable gaming laptop. Put aside the software problems with the AMD drivers and you’ll get a very cost effective gaming laptop for $650 – $700 w/ coupons and even as low as $500 if you’ll go refurbished. A good keyboard, quiet operation and nice 1080p display. Moreover, thermals are good and the case does not get hot. The 3540 is not perfect, though. Most variants will ship with only 4GB DDR3 and a basic 500GB HDD, maintenance s not easy, the keyboard is not backlit and there is no new video out port (HDMI/DP). On top of that, you might face some software problems with the Dell video drivers or the AMD ones (maybe the new ones will fix it) My recommendation is to wait for some refurbished deal or some really good new deal ($650-$700 tops) and replace the HDD with some better one, preferably SSHD or SSD and down the road, add 4GB of 1.35v DDR3. If the whole package costs you around $700 w/ tax and shipping, then it is a good deal.
