3.9 / 5 stars (160 reviews) - this is one of the best "small" Chromebooks in the market
Latest review: September 24, 2018 | Model: Dell Chromebook 11 3180CRM11IPST
In my opinion and usage experience, this is one of the best "small" Chromebooks in the market. Too bad it tends to be marketed and sold as an educational - institutional market device rather than a general consumer product, because this is very good. It feels very well built, with rubber bumber rails around the edges, probably part of the mil spec it boasts about. This does not feel like a cheap notebook. Screen is bright and sharp, matt screen, respectable for a budget 1366x768 screen. Great battery life. Very nice keyboard feel to it. Performance is good, even for a Celeron processor.

This is a utilitarian device for utilitarian users. At $280, it definitely won't break the bank. It's ugly, it's limited, and it won't win any awards, but the Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11 2-in-1 is a cheap option for basic office work and the odd casual game.

Chromebooks have come a long way since their introduction 7 years ago. In that time, manufacturers have shifted away from offering consumers a netbook replacement to targeting the large (and lucrative) education market. While premium Chromebooks can still be found (look at Samsung's Chromebook Pro and Google's own Pixelbook), the bread and butter for these devices is education, and it looks to remain that way for some time... The elephant in the room is Android. Chromebooks are in a weird position right now; Android app support is now fully available, but there are several kinks to work out. The Dell Inspiron Chromebook 11's convertible form factor positions the device to be both a notebook and an Android tablet, provided Google continues to hash out the problems with Android app integration. The device fits in well as a companion device to a traditional desktop; students can carry the Chromebook to class all day without worrying about the device breaking or dying, type out their notes, and then head back to their desktop at home when they need a fully-featured computer.

The Dell Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 is an attractive-looking hybrid at a fairly attractive price, but beneath its shiny red or blue surface are serious screen and endurance compromises its competitors don't force you to make. If you want longer battery life and a better screen, you may want to consider the $299 Asus Transformer Book Flip TP200SA, which is significantly brighter and lasts nearly twice as long on a charge. If you can afford to spend a bit more, another option is Microsoft's far-superior Surface 3, which costs $529 ($80 more than our review unit) with its keyboard cover attached. However, if you want a low-cost 2-in-1 with a strong sense of style and you can live with its drawbacks, the Inspiron 11 3000 2-in-1 is worth considering.

Dell knows what it’s doing when it comes to Chromebooks. This new, rugged model has plenty to offer in terms of speed and durability, but you don’t feel like you’re sacrificing much in return. With the long battery life and unique waterproofing feature it does seem like a device that’s built to last, which is good as you’ll want to keep using it for a long time to come.

The Chromebook 11-3120 combines the functionality of a portable typewriter and a browsing machine. The laptop has good input devices and can boast with a robust casing. This is essential since the laptop has been designed for use in schools. The very good battery life also emphasizes this. One battery charge is enough for a day at school or university. The matte screen will not win any awards. Although the brightness is acceptable for the price range, its contrast could be higher. Users who prefer Windows should take a look at our review of Acer's Aspire ES1-131. Acer's 11.6-inch netbook can easily keep up with the Chromebook in terms of performance and battery life.
