4.3 / 5 stars (147 reviews) - The perfect Chromebook to make the switch from Windows
Latest review: April 16, 2020 | Model: Acer Chromebook Spin 13
I got this laptop during the Cyber Monday sale as my first ever computer that doesn't have Windows on it. My desktop at home has Windows 10 on it but I haven't turned it on yet since this Chromebook arrived last week since I wanted to give the Acer a fair chance and see how much I really miss Windows 10. So far, there hasn't been anything that has made me wish I was using Windows 10! The only times where I have felt a little bit inconvenienced is when I need to use Microsoft Office products. I say that I was only slightly inconvenienced because I am still able to use all of the Office programs (in multiple ways actually, now that there is Google Play Store support), they are just a different layout than I am used to and may not have some of the more extensive features that the Windows version has. For the vast majority of users, however, there will be a small adjustment period and then it'll be fine after that…

This is a very good 2n1 laptop. The i-5 processor is a lot faster than my Dell 11" Pentiums (N3700, for example) and matched with the 256GB SSD drive you get to things pretty fast. I think the best part of this laptop is the overall value of it. Hard to find all these specs for this price-point. The look is sleek and nice with the matte black finish. It resists fingerprints decently well. The screen is very nice and responsive. When flipping from laptop mode to tablet mode, the transition is pretty smooth. I'm not a gamer but for things like surfing, watching Netflix and Youtube, doing business or work or school stuff, I think it's a fantastic laptop. The battery life is decent to above average (I get about 7 hours of active use, almost full brightness). So Acer did well with this laptop. At this price-point, it's really hard to beat.

I love it. I wanted a 2 in one to write my ideas on. Take notes and be able to write with a pen... I burn up pages of college ruled note books and cant find them or remember what was in that one. I can now write then organize the notes. Store on cloud or drive. For the money it is the right price.

I bought the Acer Spin 7 after returning a Yoga 710 with a defective fan that sounded like an airplane turbine from the instant you hit the power button (first laptop I have returned in over 20 years of buying laptops!). My impressions after 2 weeks of use are largely positive. It is REALLY thin and REALLY light, but definitely not as pretty as the Yoga series. The Dolby sound is okay, and what I appreciate most is that there is no fan, so it operates completely silently. The biggest downside is the measly 2 USB ports, one of which is monopolized for the power adapter. Just stupid. That means if I have it plugged in (which I usually do in my home office), I have to choose between plugging in an external DVD-ROM or a memory key, or charging my phone or mp3 player. Why? There's plenty of room on the other side of the laptop, where there's a completely unnecessary 1 1/2" long volume control. There are also volume controls on the keyboard function keys. So, kind of disappointing external design.

Just received this last Friday (it's now Tuesday) and spent the weekend getting to know it. It's Windows 10, and my now deceased laptop was bought in 2006-2007 and ran Vista. She waited til Saturday and finally breathed her last after a few near death experiences the previous week. She was my first Acer, I then purchased an Acer Netbook, and they treated me well (my Netbook still runs). So...when I knew I had to start looking at new one, I looked to Acer first... All in all, I absolutely recommend this product.
